In the summer of 2022, the aparthotel of Elias Ben Allouch (34), part of The Ben's Collection with several locations in the city, opened in the new building on Ridderspoorweg in Noord. After a year of renovation, there is now Brunchdale too.
Ben Allouch wanted to create something that brings local residents together. "Noord is an emerging district with a lot of new construction and people from outside the city moving here. This results in little social cohesion." Ben Allouch also says that there is still little catering in the area. That's why he came up with Brunchdale; a fictional village where you can go for brunch all day long.
The restaurant is located in an urban and raw area, but inside it feels like a warm living room. It has a retro and chic interior, an open kitchen in the middle of the room, and a play area for children.
Brunchdale is accessible to hotel guests, but mainly intended for local people. "We see many couples, business meetings, families, and people working at the bar. A mix of young and old, just like in a real village."
Ben Allouch's wife is the creative mind behind the menu. The eggs benedict (€9.50) and shakshuka (€9.50) are the most popular dishes. But according to Ben Allouch, the pancakes are also exceptionally delicious, and for children, they make a smiley face on them. The menu offers various halal, vegetarian, and vegan options because they find inclusivity important and like to accommodate dietary preferences.
